Think about a time when someone challenged your opinion or told you that you were wrong. What was the disagreement about, and how did you defend yourself? Did you change their mind, or did they change yours?

One time when my opinion was wrong or I was told I was wrong, was last week in my math class. We were doing popcorn answers and he asked a math equation, I answered correctly and he said it was wrong. After going over it with him he realized I was right. This is a time where I was told I was wrong but I was right!

Today in class we started learning about argumentative writing. We started going over all of the different approaches and definitions of argumentative writing.

I can reflect on this activity by imputing these skills to my everyday life. These argumentative skills will be useful to me in many situations.

Write about a meaningful object or place in your life that carries a story.

In “Because I could not stop for Death,” Emily Dickinson presents life as a journey that eventually comes to an end. What experiences in your life have reminded you that time moves quickly? How have those experiences affected the way you value your time?

In Part I of A Rose for Emily, Emily’s house stands out from the community and reflects both her past and the changes happening around her. Think about a house, building, or place that holds special memories for you. What does that place look like, what memories do you connect with it, and what does it represent to you?
